Quiztones: EQ Ear Training App Reviews

Cmon man...

Five dollars and then you have to pay more money to get the pro version? Ridiculous!I should have read the reviews prior to purchasing.

Really?

What a joke. I bought this because the far superior DDT Feedback app does not work anymore. I spent 5 bucks just wanting a feedback identification trainer. Well, the 1 octave version is great for beginners, but way too easy for me. Apparently I have to buy the pro version to unlock the 1/3rd octave function. Cool. I bought this app for $4.99, now I have to spend god knows how much to make it useful. Id at least like to know how much it costs before to upgrade to pro. But apparently that needs to be kept secret as well. Great job.

Its not bad

I am currently enrolled in MTSUs Audio Production program and this app is recommended as a tool to help outside of a class called "Critical Listening". The app is pretty similar to the training we do in class with the Golden Ears disc set. I love the option to choose a song from your phones library to use. Its very important to have a collection of songs you know really well to use as a solid reference. If you pick a song that you really enjoy and just know how it sounds, it makes it easier for you to pinpoint where the problem is when the boost/cut is turned on (too bright, muddy bass, telephone effect, midrange honk, etc.) I think it would be nice to have a review option maybe after each question or after you complete the set of 10. Maybe the boost/cut is at 2K but you choose 1K, if you could revisit the question and had the option to compare the 2K boost to the 1K boost it would help you distinguish between them. Also I read another review that suggested a kind of tutorial/introduction for the newcomers. I think this would also be a good addition seeing as how it would help someone who is just starting out develop the associations of the change characteristics to the name of the frequency band. (Brightness = 8K/16K, Telephone effect = 1K/2K, etc.) All-in-all its not bad, especially alongside any similar ear training courses or lessons.
